About the Role

We are looking for a communication’s assistant who will work with the team to define and develop products and messages targeted at various audiences, and determine what channels are most effective in delivering the messages. The ideal candidate will have strong/creative writing skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage online and social media platforms. Whether you specialize in External Communications, Internal Communications, Social Media, Web Content, Brand management, Advertising, Marketing, or Editorial, you can be part of the ICS team and help share our stories with people around the world. This opportunity is based in Nairobi with an immediate start.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Content creation and distribution- Write, edit, and disseminate content, including case stories, newsletters, videos, press releases, website content, annual reports, speeches, and other marketing material that communicates the organization’s activities, services and impact
  • Social media management – Developing content and managing the organization’s social media communications. (Predominantly LinkedIn, Twitter, blog & FB) and support senior managers to do the same.
  • Media engagement: Develop and maintain working relationships with journalists in multiple types of media outlets.
  • Marketing and branding: Developing in collaboration with the team, communication and marketing initiatives including online campaigns, web enhancement projects, and brand products ( letter heads, business cards, banners, posters, IEC materials, T-shirts, caps etc.)
  • Maintain records of (social) media coverage and collate analytics and metrics.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations or related field.
  • A creative writer, with ability to write easy to read narratives on various topics.
  • Proven experience using Microsoft Office, with interest and ability to learn new software.
  • Experience using social media tools and channels, particularly blogging and content management system preferred.
  • Graphic design, video production or digital photography skills an advantage.
  • Motivated and energetic self-starter who takes initiative.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse team members.
  • Enthusiasm to learn and develop new skills within the role.
