POSITION: ULTRASONOGRAPHER

The organization is seeking to employ qualified, experienced and motivated Medical Ultra sonographer, who will support the hospital in providing quality diagnostic services to patients. The jobholder will be required to operate from regional health facilities including Lwala Community Hospital and MOH partner facilities in Rongo Sub County.

 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The principal job duty of the diagnostic medical sonographer is to perform accurate ultrasound tests of a particular area of the body, based on
  • Explaining sonographic procedures to patients, answering questions, preparing patients by applying the gel to the skin, and positioning the patients on the
  • Organize and perform initial patient evaluation, provide diagnostic radiographs, perform ultrasound and Doppler examinations by capturing images of diagnostic value
  • Ensuring clear images for diagnostic purposes and adjusting the sonographic equipment when necessary
  • Monitoring and caring for patients to ensure their safety and comfort during the
  • Analyze the test result from the ultrasound equipment; presents calculations and measurements of the images performed for a diagnosis and treatment
  • Conduct Obstetrics and gynecology use ultrasound testing to view the fetus in the womb to determine size, weight and/or gender, along with any potential problems with the fetus; Use the ultrasound to test for any problems within the uterus, cervix or vaginal canal.
  • Assisting Physicians and the healthcare teams during invasive
  • Performing medical procedures, such as administering oxygen, taking vital signs, and giving emergency treatments.
  • Conduct consultations with the Clinical team and supervisors on regular
  • Register and arrange appointment times for pregnant mothers attending Antenatal Care Clinics, inpatients and emergency
  • Transportation of mobile machines to emergency departments, clinics or patient
  • Provide support and conduct Mentorship for trained nurses/RCOs on
  • Ensure radiation safety measures and protection are observed to comply with government regulations and to ensure safety to patient’s staff and
  • Completing the appropriate documentation and maintaining patients’ histories, medical records and taking care of billing procedures.
  • Performing routine maintenance of machines, safety and sanitary procedures after each test on the equipment, and maintaining adequate supplies

 REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Higher Diploma in Ultrasound
  • Registered and licensed by The Kenya Radiation Protection Board

Relevant Work Experience

  • At least two year’s relevant work experience in a busy hospital
