Role Overview:

Drives and coordinates transformation of AA’s child sponsorship product, business processes and supporter journeys across multiple markets, enhancing its relevance to  changing  donor expectations while achieving cost efficiencies in its operations.

Areas of Responsibilities

1. Strategic Impact and contribution

Drive cross-market innovations in AAI’s multiple CS product offerings to align with AA’s narrative and identity and provide a 21st century supporter journey and experience leveraging the potential of new technology. Build on learnings from CS innovation to stimulate development and testing of other new Regular Giving approaches beyond CS.

2. System, Policies and Procedures and Product  Management

Create and drive a strategy for CS innovation and renewal:

  • Employ your world-class expertise and knowledge of sector trends as well your stakeholder management skills to design and lead a process with both funding and implementing countries to

o   create common understanding of the challenges and opportunities;

o   agree and collaborate on priority solutions.

  • Based on this, develop a framework, tools and guidelines for innovating the Child Sponsorship product and CS marketing and supporter communications.
  • Coordinate peer-to-peer innovation with funding and implementing countries to renew the CS product and/or CS supporter journeys and supporter communications, bringing in learnings from across the sector and employing a test-and-learn approach.
  • Work with the Business Applications Architect and  other members of the CS Transformation Project team to identify and scope new functionalities needed on the CS database system to support innovation in CS and IG products.
  • Act as a key member of the CS Transformation project team, contributing to overall coordination and management of the project as needed.
  • Assist the Public Fundraising Lead with planning subsequent phases of the CS Transformation project, particularly development and testing of other new RG products and approaches, working closely with the Digital Innovation Adviser in the Public Fundraising team as well as the Digital Organizer in the Campaigns team.
  • Provide ad hoc technical advice and support to Individual Giving markets, particularly those receiving strategic investment from the GS.

3. Issue Resolutions, Crisis/Risk Management

  • Reconcile competing visions for the future of CS, not only between different countries in the Federation but often between different functional teams within the same country. Ensure innovation approaches respond to complex differences in AA’s funding markets, national brand positioning and supporter demographics, competitor landscape, etc.
  • Collaborate with the Communications and Campaigns team to counter any media criticism of CS.
  • Assist the Public Fundraising Lead to identify and manage project-related risks through a formal risk mitigation framework.

4. Communications , Influencing and Coordination

  • Convene, coordinate and influence multiple stakeholders across different functions and countries to create common understanding of the challenges and opportunities and to agree and collaborate on priority solutions.
  • Coordinate peer-to-peer innovation with funding and implementing countries.
  • Participate in relevant external forums and coordinate shared learning, information sharing & data gathering on innovation.
  • Manage relationships with external consultants and vendors when required.
  • Support the CS Community of Practice by identifying and sharing case studies (successes and failures) from across the countries
  • Collaborate with the Communications & Campaigns team to revitalize supporter facing content to support supporter journey innovations.

PERSON SPECIFICATIONS

Education and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field.

Essential Experience

  • At least three years’ relevant senior experience of coordinating product and/or supporter/customer journey innovation, preferably in a decentralized international organization or firm.
  • Desirable: Experience of public fundraising and/or supporter engagement in a campaigning or movement-building context (e.g. political campaigns); experience of combined offline and online techniques.
  • Experience in providing support and training.

Essential Knowledge

  • Sector-leading expertise in donor/customer acquisition, activation and retention and supporter/customer ladders of engagement.
  • Knowledge of market trends that impact the marketability and the retention of CS product.
  • Understanding of audience insight for supporter engagement.
  • Understanding of CRM systems and data analytics for fundraising/marketing.
  • Broad understanding of the rights-based approach to social, gender and environmental justice at local, national and global levels, and how this approach informs ActionAid’s CS product and case for giving.

Essential skills

  • Excellent proven skills in data analysis.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with fluency in English.
  • Superb stakeholder management, negotiation and influencing skills including build strong remote relationships across cultures and geographies.

Language  requirements

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Other languages spoken in countries where ActionAid International is present will be advantageous
