Vacancies Positions: Study Nurses
The Henry M. Jackson Foundation Medical Research International (HJFMRI) provides scientific, technical and programmatic support services to global medical research programs. HJFMRI in collaboration with The Walter Reed Project, HIV Program-Kericho carries out HIV / AIDS vaccine and therapeutic research, and with PEPFAR supports HIV prevention, care and treatment programs in South Rift Valley. HJFMRI / Walter Reed Project- Kericho is seeking to fill the above positions.
Job Summary:
To conduct HIV and other Health related research activities; and manage clinical trial participants in the Clinical Research Center.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Provide clinical care to study participants
2. Observe good clinical practice.
3. Recruitment, consenting and screening of potential study participants
4. Participate in other routine clinic activities including but not limited to:
- obtaining patient vital signs (i.e. blood pressure, pulse rate, respiratory rate, temperature, height and weight),
- Â phlebotomy/collection of laboratory specimens;
- Perform nursing procedures for patient management
- review of laboratory results; scheduling appointments;
- assist the clinic team in tracking patients lost to follow-up;
- provide counseling on HIV, pregnancy and birth control measures to participants.
5. Maintain study participants’ confidentiality.
6. Quality control and quality assurance
7. Assist with data entry
8. Perform any other relevant duty assigned by the supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:
i. Diploma in Nursing from an accredited institution.
ii. Must be registered with Nursing Council of Kenya and having a valid practicing license.
iii. Experience with clinical research protocols is an added advantage
iv. Training on Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and Human Subject Protection and certification would be an added advantage.
v. Excellent communication skills (writing, reading, and presenting) in English and Kiswahili.
vi. Basic computer application skills in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
Terms of Employment: 1 year renewable contract. The first three months will be probation period.
