The Job

As the Principal Engineer at Triggerise, you will create and maintain the software that enables our system to function. You’ll advise on the implementation and delivery of software, and ensure that the technical principles and standards are followed across teams. You will also be responsible for:

  • Influencing and applying the principles of software engineering to the design, development, maintenance, testing, and evaluation of our software.
  • Working closely with the architect and engineering teams to maintain and develop new features on our software platform.
  • Using your coding expertise to mentor and coach other engineers with complex problems.

About You

You’re a logical thinker and a natural problem-solver who wants to use your technical expertise to make an impact.

Requirements

  • You hold a minimum of 6 years of working experience in a technical software development role.
  • You have worked extensively with Java tools and frameworks, including SpringBoot.
  • You don’t want to just write code, you want to make it scalable.
  • Experience within Microservices, AWS, and fraud will be an advantage.
  • Previous experience as an Architect or Principal Engineer is also a plus.
  • We use Flyway, JUnit, Testcontainers, PostgreSQL, Finatra, among others  (You don’t need to have experience with the tools we are currently using, we can help you).
  • Excellent English skills.

The Rewards

At Triggerise we believe in being open, also when it comes to salaries. The monthly salary bracket for this position is R60 000 – R88 000 in South Africa, KSH 292 000 – KSH 439 000 in Kenya and €2 700 – €4 149 in Portugal, plus benefits and allowances. We will offer you a salary in this bracket depending on your level of experience and how it relates to your future colleagues.
