The Bettina Fund

Despite many women graduating with certification in journalism, most underrepresented in media houses especially in leadership roles hence the introduction of the Bettina Fund that majorly focuses on empowering women in media.

Kenya being at the fore front focus to benefit from the fund due to its substantial percentage of female journalists graduates who are currently minimally represented in the media organizations operating in the country.

The foundation has teamed up with Baraza Media Lab, an initiative working to promote a strong and diverse media ecosystem in Kenya from its collaborative space in Nairobi.

Details

  • The program is highly personalized program with each participant having an individual mentor.
  • It will start in September 2021 and run for three months.
  • The program will take place virtually, through online mentoring, webinars and e-learning courses.

Eligibility

  • Women living in Kenya
  • With at least 2 to 3 years’ experience working in the media
  • Working for one or more media focused organization. These need not necessarily be in the traditional or legacy media. We welcome applications from women working in small or start-up organizations in the digital media sector and media entrepreneurs.
  • You must have a good understanding of the English language as online courses and webinars/meetings will be conducted in English.
