Smart Farming Challenge
With increase in world population, the demand for agricultural products also increases. There is need for efficient and sustainable production of agricultural products in order to cater for the increasing population and at the same time conserving the environment. BayWa invites submissions of innovative projects that will successfully address these needs.
BayWa is particularly interested in new ideas that combine satellite data and artificial intelligence/ machine learning in the following application fields:
- Pasture Management
- Early Crop Disease Identification in Agriculture and Horticulture
- Yield Prediction in Horticulture

Evaluation Criteria
Submissions to the BayWa Smart Farming Challenge will be evaluated against the following criteria:
- Innovation Does the solution demonstrate a new/novel approach to Smart Farming?
- Earth observation Does the solution use Earth observation data to bring added-value to end-users?
- Technical Feasibility Can the technical element of the solution be used in a commercial context?
- Commercial Viability Does the solution have real market potential?
