Project Assistant Needed-Voices for Diversity
WWF Kenya is implementing a program dubbed ‘Voices for Diversity’ whose aim is to create a favorable policy and legislative environment that allows for inclusivity, reduced inequalities and poverty while enhancing environmental sustainability. This is premised on the understanding that inclusivity and equity in decision-making processes significantly contributes to sustainable management of natural resources, reduction of inequalities and improved well-being of the local communities, as poverty and environment are interlinked. The activities of this program are designed to intervene around the following key domains:
i. Empowered right holders and CSOs
ii. Capable WWF Kenya and partners
iii. Accountable and responsive duty bearers
iv. Inclusive and expanded space
v. Contribution to the national, regional and global processes
The three yeas program is funded by SIDA through WWF Sweden.
The Role:
The incumbent will work under the supervision of CSOs and Partnerships Officer to provide the required support for efficient delivery of VfD objectives.
Specific tasks:
- Support timely implementation of VfD project activities
- Ensure timely preparation of grant agreements for the implementing partners
- Monitor grants, organize and conduct project monitoring visits
- Facilitate capacity assessments for identified stakeholders (right holders and duty bearers) and development of capacity building plans
- Facilitate capacity strengthening for project stakeholders to address the identified needs
- Contribute to drafting of progress reports for donors and WWF network
- Offer administrative support for the project
- Support planning of meetings and other events related to the project
- Any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor
Required skills and competencies
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Computer literacy in MS Office packages.
- Team-oriented attitude and ability to work independently
- Outstanding communication, policy analysis, coordination and advocacy skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills, innovative thinking, versatile ability to work in a team as well as independently.
- Good understanding of human rights and current environmental issues
Qualifications
●University degree in a relevant discipline from a recognized university e.g. Natural Resources Management, Environmental studies, Development studies, international relations, Project management or related discipline with 2-3 years of relevant experience.
Working Relationships:
- Internal: Interacts with the Head of Conservation programs, Heads of departments, Program Managers and all WWF Kenya staff.
- External: Interacts with WWF Network, National and County government ministries and departments, regulatory bodies, Civil Society Organizations, other conservation agencies.
