Physical Education (P.E.) Teacher, Aga Khan Education Services

The position

The Aga Khan Academies are the only schools in Kenya offering the International Baccalaureate curriculum (IB) who are authorized to offer the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP) and the Diploma Programme (DP). With over 1000 students, the AKAN is a multi-cultural school with a variety of nationalities represented in our student and teaching faculty.

The Aga Khan Academy, Nairobi – Junior School welcomes applications from dedicated and enthusiastic professional educators for the following position starting August/September 2022.

P.E. TEACHER
The Physical Education Teacher shall be responsible for the implementation of the physical education curriculum for Grades 1 – 5, as per the objectives/standards of the Primary Years Programme.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Maintaining accurate records of work, and student progress, which reflect a skill progression through the school.
  • The planning and organization of the school’s yearly/termly sports calendar.
  • The organization of all school sporting events e.g. sport days, house games etc.
  • The organization and co-ordination of inter- school tournaments for all sports.
  • The development and coaching of school teams.
  • Undertaking health education programs which prepare students for life.
  • Instructing students in sports, recreational activities and healthy life style issues, encouraging and developing physical fitness, and skills, and building self-esteem and interpersonal skills
  • The submission of yearly budget forecast for the department.

The requirements

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education (Physical Education).
  • 5 years’ teaching experience in a reputable school.
  • PYP focused professional development.
  • Teachers Service Commission (TSC) registration certificate.
