Opportunity for a Finance Consultant

1. The Organization
Traidcraft Exchange is an international development charity which uses the power of trade to bring about lasting solutions to poverty. It runs development programs in South Asia and Africa, works directly with businesses to improve their supply chain, and does advocacy and campaigning in the UK to promote justice and fairness in international trade. It works closely with specialist fair trade company Traidcraft plc.
2. Purpose and Objectives of this assignment
The purpose of this consultancy is to provide support in the finance function of the organization.
3. Responsibilities
The consultant will perform the following duties.
• Assist project staff in budgets preparations and budget monitoring.
• Ensure that all float/payment request submitted to finance are accurate according to project standard and policy and that they are paid on time.
• Undertake verification exercise of all project financials transactions to ensure completeness and accuracy.
• Prepare office monthly cashbooks and bank reconciliations and update in the computerized accounting software.
• Prepare donor financial reports as per the reporting requirements and budget vs actual reports for the monitoring.
• Support in project monitoring exercises.
• Support in payment of invoices and bills from suppliers and service providers including payroll and related statutory payments when required to.
• Support in preparation of annual and project audits.
• Update documents in the organization document management platform-SharePoint.
• Any other duties as assigned from time to time.
4. Timeline
This consultancy is expected to last for 8 months and shall commence on 1st June 2021 and shall be completed on 31st January 2022.
5. Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration and CPA II Or CPA finalist and ongoing degree in Accounting.
6. Required skills and experience.
To carry out the above task Traidcraft Exchange is looking for a consultant with the following skills:
• Understanding and experience working in the development/charity sector.
• Experience in accounting donor funded project. Experience in DFID funded project is an added advantage.
• Experience in performing finance functions(financial accounting, project budgeting and reporting, project audit).
• Experience using SAGE computerized accounting system preferably SAGE200 Cloud.
• Experience in using Microsoft excel application and other applications like SharePoint.
• Good communication skills.
• Keen to details.
• Have analytical skills.
• Ability to work in and as a team.
7. Proposal assessment criteria
Traidcraft Exchange will look into the following areas in assessing the quality of the proposal submitted by the bidding consultants.
• Qualification, skills and experience of the consultant.
• Clarity of understanding of the task at hand as described in consultants’ own words.
• Value for money.
8. Expression of Interest

• Preferred nature of consultancy – Part-time or Full-time.
• For Part-time option – not less than 3 days per week. State preferred workdays.
