The Position

Job Title: University Counsellor
Start date: 1 August 2022

Job Summary: The Aga Khan Academy, Mombasa is currently recruiting a second University Counsellor to add capacity to support our students to access places and scholarships at top universities in North America, Canada, the Middle East, and Europe. The successful candidate will support students with university applications and provide guidance on courses and possible scholarships available to them, 60% of our graduates were offered scholarships in 2019.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Work with students in preparing their university applications including navigating financial aid and scholarship opportunities.
  • Coordinate with students for SAT/ACT testing preparation.
  • Network with universities campuses to establish and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with university admission staffs.
  • Educate families about universities admissions and financial aid/scholarship and identify appropriate university options.
  • Work with the Director of University Counselling to gather data for the website and press release.
  • Provide periodic reports on university applications and decisions to date

The requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, minimum 3 years’ experience in college admissions or high school Counselling.
  • Strong oral and written communication skill.
  • She/he should have a strong knowledge and understanding of UCAS and College Board and of the IB Diploma Programme.
  • International Experience knowledge of US, Canada, UK, Australia & Europe universities application procedures.
  • Experience with SAT preparations
