Know our team

Nutrition International’s Program Operations Unit is responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective delivery of Nutrition International’s core program interventions including program development, design, planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting, and grant management, including setting annual operational planning, budgeting and review processes. The unit comprises a global team of professionals located in our 10 core countries across Asia, Africa and our headquarters in Ottawa, Canada. Currently, Nutrition International is seeking applications for Program Officer Kenya ER grant to be based in Nairobi, Kenya.

About you

You will have a master’s degree in Nutrition, Public Health, Nursing, Child Health, or other related fields. Training in project management or M&E is an added advantage. At least five years’ experience in Maternal Newborn and Nutritional programs. Well-versed with Kenya’s health system and especially at the County level, Experience providing TA to MNCH programs at the National and County level. Proficiency in data management to inform programming. Excellent interpersonal, communication, presentational, team working and project management skills.

Good written and spoken English.

About the role

In this role you will be:

  • Developing annual work plans and budgets for the ER grant in Kenya in coordination with County Governments to ensure timely project implementation.
  • Providing technical input and facilitate NI VAS and Zinc Io ORS ER project delivery in collaboration with County Governments.
  • Developing quality monthly, quarterly, and annual performance monitoring (both technical and financial) reports for the projects and ensure challenges are identifies and recommended corrective actions are implemented in a timely manner.
  • Supporting the documentation of lesson learned and challenges throughout the project as a source of learning for NI and the County Governments.
  • Supporting the Child Health and Nutrition Senior Program Officer to build and maintain good collaborative relations with MOH, other government agencies, UN agencies, and NGOs, as appropriate to promote information sharing and effective coordination of effort to improve and sustain effective and efficient project implementation.
  • Supporting provision of TA to various technical working groups under COVID-19 taskforce at National and County level.
  • Preparing materials for, organizing, documenting, and follow up meetings and conference calls as required in support of both internal teamwork and communications with NI’s external partners.
