Job Title: Nutrition Data Information Officer – IRC

Location: Kapenguria, West Pokot, Kenya

Job Description

Working under the mentorship and supervision of the Nutrition Manager, The Nutrition Data Information Officer will lead in all aspect of data quality and reporting in relation to ComPAS and nutrition related information collected at the various nutrition facilities in West Pokot. The NDIO will be responsible for providing data quality training on Commcare, coaching of the nutrition data enumerators, Nutrition Staff, MOH Staff while ensuring technical support, including M&E for the nutrition program.

Key Responsibilities:

Programming

  • Take lead in the ComPAS and other nutrition data information processes not limited to data entry and reporting and resolving any troubleshooting on nutrition ComPAS Commcare info at west pokot in line with the donor’s technical narrative compliance.
  • Presentation of all the Commcare platform analysis of all ComPAS data, verification, and submission of monthly data information to enable inform programming, daily detection of errors or non-compliant data or information sharing.
  • Train the nutrition data enumerators and MOH staff as per the ComPAS protocol.
  • Train and mentor IRC nutrition staff and other key partners in CommCare, KOBO, CMAM Software and any nutrition statistical Packages for ease of data information platforms.
  • Ensure timely reporting in accordance with set deadlines.
  • Coordinate program data review meetings in consultation with the County Health management team.
  • Monitor and supervise accurate usage of all the available Nutrition Commodities and data collection platforms.

Supervision and leadership

  • Directly supervise data nutrition enumerators at the MOH facilities implementing ComPAS.
  • Supervise and work in strict collaboration with the MOH and nutrition team in reviewing all the nutrition information data platforms
  • Identify training gaps for the MOH staff and program staff within nutrition program and communicate the same to the program manager.

Networking and coordination

  • Ensure proper communication, coordination, and harmonization of tools with the different partners involved in food/nutrition activities.
  • Coordinate and share appropriate analysis of program progress and work with the M & E to improve on any data collection tools.
  • Attend all program implementation meetings.

Note: – The role of the Nutrition data information Officer cannot be limited to the specific duties and tasks detailed herein. The success of the IRC’s humanitarian mission is the highest priority and all issues which arise must be addressed accordingly. Therefore, He/She will be required to lead all unforeseen issues and circumstances and remain flexible to perform any other duties, as and when required.

Qualifications

  • MUST Bachelor’s Degree in health information systems/Monitoring and evaluation option knowledge and experience in nutrition data & nutrition training in CMAM/IMAM/COMPASS and MIYCN is an added advantage.
  • Possess at least proven experience at least 4 years in implementing nutrition or health related data information related activities in a health institution
  • they must possess ability to analyze and interpret both quantitative and qualitative programmed data.
  • Must possess high level of integrity, excellent planning, and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in computer applications such as; SPSS, KOBO, STATA, EPI Info , ENA for SMART , Comcare, ODK Collect, advanced excel, word processing, spreadsheet, E- mail, out look
