Job Opening: Junior Logistics Coordinator Kenya-Somalia H/F – Secours Islamique France

Secours Islamique France is looking for a Junior Logistics Coordinator based in Nairobi, Kenya with frequent visits to Kismayo, Somalia.

Context

Open since 2012, SIF’s mission in Somalia, helped host populations and internal displaced people in Kismayo.

SIF contributed in improving food security and livelihood of vulnerable households in both countries. People impacted by the floods also received hygiene and first need kits.

SIF developed as well its activities during COVID-19 pandemic by distributing medical supplies in Somalia. The sponsorship of orphans also supported their access to education. From Nairobi, the administrative coordinator will be under Head of Mission’ supervision and will manage finance, HR, and admin team in Kismayo, Nairobi and Marsabit.

Role

Under the supervision of the Head of Mission, as part of the Coordination Team and while supervising the Logistics team, you will be in charge of coordinating, planning and guaranteeing the follow-up on logistic activities of all the bases of the mission, be responsible for the implementation of the security plan of the mission, and will provide logistical support to all field offices, including support and training as required.

Your main responsibilities are the following (evolving and non exhaustive list) :

  • Contribute to the elaboration of the mission’s operational strategy: context analysis and its evolution, elaboration of problem trees and proposed solutions, needs assessments analysis, proposal of new actions, budgeting and HR dimensioning.
  • Manage logistic staff: briefing, planning, follow-up, management, performance, technical capacity building, etc..
  • Ensure that sufficient safety and security standards for SIF and assets are in place in all premises and that all premises are well managed, maintained and kept clean.
  • Manage stock movements and distributions of goods in the framework of project implementation.

Candidate’s Profile

  • Master’s level qualification in logistics and supply management or related fields.
  • 3 Years as Senior Logistics officer or Manager in humanitarian / development program.
  • Solid experience on suppliers contract management ( from drafting, supplier performance, up to payment and termination).
  • Good knowledge and experience of asset management and storekeeping.
  • Previous experience of working on humanitarian programs in SIF’s sectors of operation, particularly WASH, livelihood and food security , gender and protection, education and child well-being.
  • Fluent in English ( written and spoken).
  • Familiarity or experience in Somalia and/or Kenya are appreciated.
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills with demonstrable ability to lead, influence and motivate others in diversity of context and functions.
  • Ability to plan workload and demonstrate accountability for outputs with minimal direct supervision.

  • French fixed term contract : 4 months.
  • Remuneration according to our salary grid.
  • Monthly per diem/ Guesthouse

  • Repatriation insurance 100% covered by SIF
  • R&R to your home country covered by SIF after 6 months of mission
  • Leaves every 3 months
