About the Role
Reporting to the Project officer with technical guidance from the ECD Program Coordinator, the Project Intern is primarily responsible for supporting the implementation of the project activities aimed at ensuring the targeted indicators and project outputs are achieved. The role also includes day-to-day timely, quality, successfully and accurately implementing, monitoring, and reporting of the project. The intern will support in mobilization and strengthening of nurturing care for early childhood development services for adolescent parents, families, their children (0-3years) and ensure appropriate and timely linkage and referrals are done between the target population, service providers and stakeholders.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in the development and implementation of ECD program workplans focused on nurturing care for ECD activities at household level that promote early learning opportunities for children 0 -3 years.
- Strategically mobilize targeted programme participants, service providers and stakeholders in the targeted sub counties.
- Support the project officers in delivering training and onsite counselling to the targeted participants, their children, and families.
- Support in the organization, and planning of review meetings with community level workforce, stakeholders, and project teams to ensure timely and appropriate feedback is collected and documented.
- Support the coordination of project activities, including scheduling meetings, preparing agendas, and taking minutes.
- Support the MEAL Coordinator and researchers to conduct field visits, collect and analyse data to improve project approaches and interventions.
- Support enrolment of project participants (adolescent parents, their children) into the project database.
- Contribute to the preparation of project reports, presentations, and other communication materials.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure the smooth implementation of NCfECD and parenting project to adolescent parents, their children, and families.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of project activities and outcomes.
- Support in documentation of project’s best practices, policies, and interventions to enhance project outcomes.
- Build and maintain good relationships with government officials, stakeholders, and community members, and attend key meetings especially at sub counties level to strengthen good work relationships.
Requirements
Functional skills and knowledge:
- A strong understanding of principles of child development from a family centered approach.
- Knowledge of Nurturing care for ECD, and ability to work independently & within teams.
- Good stakeholder engagement and coordination skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and data analysis.
- Good communication in local languages, and English speaking/ and writing skills.
- Sound typing skills and a demonstrated ability to multi-task.
- Demonstrates diplomacy, flexibility, and resourcefulness.
- Strong critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills & Strong interpersonal skills
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
- Degree or Diploma in ECD, Social work, or Development studies.
- A minimum of 1 year of experience in programmes related to early identification and childhood development, OVC and economic strengthening.
