Fellowships Available on Epidemiological Modelling for Infectious Disease Dynamics

The University of Nairobi Centre for Epidemiological Modelling and Analysis (CEMA) and the University of Cambridge through funding from the UK Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council are offering fellowship positions on Epidemiological Modelling for Infectious Disease Dynamics for participants from East Africa.

Number available         : 8 fellowships
Duration of fellowship : 4-6 months
Value of fellowship      : £5,000

The fellowships are available for East African post-graduate students or researchers interested in epidemiological modelling for infectious diseases with a project focusing on either COVID-19, priority zoonotic diseases, or key infectious diseases in the region.
The fellows will receive mentorship from faculty and researchers from University of Nairobi, the University of Cambridge, and other institutions dependent on the fellow’s subject area and needs.
Successful candidates will also be sponsored for an intensive two-week short course in mathematical modelling that combines lectures, discussions and seminars to build practical skills in infectious disease modelling. The course will be offered using the open-source programming language of R and is adapted from the well-established Wellcome Genome Campus Mathematical Models for Infectious Disease Dynamics Course.
