Data Officer needed at Light for the World Kenya
Location: Nairobi with some in country travels

Contract: One-year contract, renewal subject to funding.
Mode of Employment: Full time, 40 hours per week
Background
Light for the World is a global development organization. We empower people with disabilities and enable eye health services in low income countries. Over the last three decades we improved health systems, enabled education for all, and amplified the voices of people with disabilities.
Main function
The Data Officer will be overseeing the collection, storage, management, quality, and protection of Light for the World projects’ data by ensuring that it is accurate, timely, and adequately meets the reporting requirements of the organization and the donor.
Key duties
- Monitor data processes and work with the overall project team within Light for the World and its partners to maintain data integrity and reconcile data discrepancies.
- Review the quality of the data and perform quality checks to ensure appropriate data collection meets the needs of the project.
- Develop improvements in tools and/or processes to support information governance.
- Analyze data sets and present findings to the overall project team and stakeholders.
- Assist the project team with the data analysis required for the project result frameworks and narrative reporting.
- Produce monthly and quarterly performance and summative reports for the project team, demonstrating trends and patterns within Light for the World project activities.
- Analyze indicator performance against targets, outputs, and outcomes contained in the result frameworks.
- Respond to data requests from the project team, consistently monitor and report performance issues to the Project Managers.
- Ensuring safe and sustainable storage of project data.
- Contribute to external evaluation process using analytical skills to produce high level reports and address any queries from external evaluators.
- Implementing data privacy policies and ensuring compliance of the data protection regulations within Light for the World and its partners.
- Contribute to Light for the World’s global data quality management through data cleaning, consolidation, verification, and visualization of core indicators at global portfolio level.
Essential competencies and qualifications –
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology or related field.
- Master’s degree preferred.
- 5-10 years’ experience in a data management role.
- Ample experience with mobile data collection platforms such as Activity Info and SurveyCTO
- Strong analytical skills in Power BI, and Stata
- Experience of using database systems and manipulating data
- Experience of solving technical problems and providing solutions
- Experience of providing desktop and onsite technical support
- Experience of using MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience of processing and reporting performance data
Desirable –
- Experience of data management within international organizations
- Experience of reporting on Key performance indicators.
