Communications & Public Relations Intern/Volunteer, Sense International
Sense International Kenya (SI Kenya) is part of Sense International, a global NGO supporting people with deaf-blindness and those with complex disabilities. Sense International has other country offices in Bangladesh, India, Tanzania, Peru, Romania, Nepal and Uganda, and a head office in the UK. We work with local organizations and governments to identify people with deaf-blindness and those with complex disabilities and provide them with educational, health and vocational services to enable them to participate in and contribute to their communities. To ensure a lasting and sustainable impact, we invest in local professionals and organizations, influence governments and advocate for change.
Job Purpose
This position is responsible for implementation and enhancement of effective communication practices within and outside the organization.
Responsibility
- Social media management and content creation
- Reporting on events, or items of interest – such events may take place or when the organization is part of an outreach event
- Writing case studies of clients who have been impacted by the organization’s services
- Researching and writing interesting or topical articles related to our work
- Assist with development and implementation of communications strategies or campaigns (when needed)
- Development innovative multimedia items for our website, social media platforms and print products
- Support production of video content for the website and social media platforms
- Designing posters, flyers and infographics;
- Manage digital archive and maintain an organized file-management system of images and video clips
- Lead with production of Quarterly e-newsletter
- Acting as a rapporteur in workshops and meetings
Qualifications and Experience
- At an advanced stage of their degree program in Communications, Journalism Public Relations or any other related field.
- Diploma level candidates will also be considered.
- Demonstrated experience in graphic design, video production and photography.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, verbal and collaboration skills.
- Creative, resourceful and eager to learn.
- Natural storyteller with an acute understanding of how to create compelling narratives for different audiences.
- Savvy social media user who has strong track record to drive user engagement
- Creative writer and content producer, with technical skills to produce high-quality videos and other media assets
- Ability to thrive working collaboratively with both senior colleagues
- Knowledge of sign language is an added advantage but not essential
