Call for Offers to undertake Gender and Socio Economic Survey along the improved CookStoveValue Chain for Promotion of Climate-Friendly Cooking in Kenya , GIZ

Background

The project “Promotion of Climate-Friendly Cooking: Kenya and Senegal” (GCF/EnDev), implemented by GIZ, Ministry of Energy and other implementing partners, commenced in March 2020 and will run until December 2024. The project objective is to accelerate the growth of the Improved Cookstoves (ICS) sector with an irreversible market transformation that will significantly increase the level of ICS production and sales, thereby enabling Kenya to significantly advance the achievement of Kenya climate goals relating to cooking energy.

The project supports ICS market development focusing on supply side (professionalization, mechanization, quality assurance and business development support, access to finance and distribution channels), demand side (awareness creation and behavioral change communication/campaigns) and facilitating a supportive enabling environment.

Call for bids from potential suppliers/companies

The GCF/EnDev project has a very strong gender dimension embedded within its Gender Action Plan (GAP), with clear gender-based objectives. So that gender sensitive project monitoring and evaluation towards achievement of the project gender targets, an understanding of the key gender and socio-economic issues along the cookstoves value chain is priority. This understanding is expected to provide valuable insights that will enable specific responses to the barriers (already identified in the gender assessment available) to gender mainstreaming across the ICS value chain. To enable periodic assessment of the performance of the project against the objectives outlined in the GAP, the project will implement a gender and socio-economic survey to understand the current status of both themes along the ICS value chains in Kenya. In this regard, GIZ Kenya is seeking a service provider to undertake the baseline survey.
