Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) Consultant

DanChurchAid Kenya (DCA) has been implementing youth economic empowerment interventions in Kakuma refugee camp and Kalobeyei Settlement, targeting the host and refugee community youth. The interventions are mainly focused on providing business skills, entrepreneurship, and basic employability training as well as capitalization to enable youth run successful business enterprises and access employment opportunities. In addition to the training, DCA is supporting youth to deploy service businesses that will provide services to different organizations, including providing relevant mentorship and coaching.

Accordingly, DCA is looking for a qualified and experienced consultant to provide Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) training to enable the youth understand and navigate the process of successfully outsourcing businesses for organizations and businesses in Kakuma/ Kalobeyei and beyond.

Purpose and Objective of the Consultancy

The main objective of the consultancy is to provide Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) training to the refugee and host community youth entrepreneurs in Kalobeyei Settlement, and equip them with necessary skills and knowledge for outsourcing and executing specific business functions on behalf of organizations/businesses in diverse sectors.

Key Objectives of the Consultancy

  • Develop relevant training materials/content and presentations that are relevant, aligned to the needs youth entrepreneurs in analyzing the key success factors of BPO sector as well as helping them understand the markets
  • Train youth entrepreneurs to enhance their skills and knowledge on BPO.
  • Enable youth entrepreneurs develop a clear action plan for their businesses.
  • Develop training final report

Period

The assignment will take seven (7) working days inclusive of preparation of training content, actual training and preparation of the training report. The actual date of the assignment shall be agreed between the consultant and DCA. We expect the assignment to take place in the month of September 2021.

Deliverables/Outputs

  • Training content/materials developed
  • Detailed work plan for the delivery of the training
  • Final training report
  • Evaluation/Feedback from the training participants

Desired competencies

  • Prior experience in delivering similar training/working in humanitarian context preferably with refugees in Kenya.
  • Experience in financial inclusion and youth/women empowerment programming is an added advantage.

Competencies and Qualifications

Education: Master’s degree in a relevant discipline in Entrepreneurship, Business Management, Business Administration, Development Finance, or any field related to Social Sciences (or equivalent).

Experience: At least 5 years’ experience developing and delivering business related training with a bias in Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) in the humanitarian and/or development sector.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in developing and delivering participatory training content
  • Excellent collaboration, analytical and process moderation skills, and able to interact with participants across contexts.

Assessment management and values

For this assignment, consultants are expected to familiarize themselves with and adhere to the DCA Code of conduct for contractors (ethical principles & standards). The consultant will also be expected to familiarize and observe the COVID-19 protocols in the Camp as set by the government and UNHCR. Payments and costs

  1. Professional fee: The consultant(s) will be paid professional fees in accordance with this TOR and within DCA’s approved rates.
  2. DCA will cover ALL the consultants’ costs related to carrying out this assignment, as it will be defined in the final signed contract.
  3. Withholding income tax payable to the Government of Kenya (GoK) shall be deducted from the consultants’ fees during payment.
  4. The consultant will sign a contract prior to commencement of this consultancy, which will detail additional terms and conditions of service, aspects of inputs and deliverables.

Submission Guidelines

All expressions of interest should include:

  1. Technical Proposal highlighting among any other necessary information: brief profile of the consultant, previous experience in this kind of assignment, understanding of the TOR.
  2. Financial Proposal: The financial proposal should provide cost estimates for services rendered including daily consultancy fees related to the consultant as well as applicable taxes.
