ATTACHMENT – FINANCE DEPARTMENT
Summary:
Reporting to the Principal Accountant, the Intern shall be responsible for duties assigned in the various sections –Student Accounts, Treasury and Management Accounts.
Key Responsibilities/Tasks/Duties:
• Student Accounts
- Perform reconciliations of selected general Ledger Accounts.
- Assist with old student debt analysis.
- Assist in student related queries.
- Assist in refund preparation.
- Document filing/stamping where necessary.
- Post transactions to Journals, Ledgers and other records.
- Gathering financial data for adhoc and monthly reports
• Treasury
- Assist in responding to student queries at the Front Office (emails and telephone calls).
- Clean daily bank statements for up-loading.
- Follow up on un-accounted for cash disbursements/imprest on advances issued for projects and to staff.
- Verification of cash receipts.
- Follow up on un-paid non-tuition invoices.
• Management Accounts
- Perform reconciliations of selected general Ledger Accounts.
- Assist with Tax Return Compilation (all taxes other than PAYE).
- Supplier statement reconciliations.
- Supplier payments processing including raising payment vouchers and raising payments via cheque.
- Document filing/scanning/stamping where necessary.
- Post transactions to journals, ledgers and other records.
- Gathering financial data for adhoc and monthly reports.
- Correspond with vendors and respond to Inquiries.
The internship is intended to provide Interns with supervised practical work experience.
Requirement for Appointment:
Education/Professional Qualifications:
- Continuing student pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance from USIU-Africa.
- Other requirement: CPA, ACCA, CCP or CIFA Qualification.
- Other requirements:
- Personal accident insurance to cover for personal risks during the internship period.
- Medical insurance cover by NHIF or other reputable medical insurance firm.
- Valid Certificate of Good Conduct.
