Job Title: Drama/Theatre Arts Teacher
Start date: 1 August 2022

Job Summary: The Aga khan Academy, Mombasa is currently recruiting a Drama/ Theatre Arts Teacher. She/he will be part of a community that develops young people’s talent and potential from Mombasa to be the well-educated, ethical, and pluralistic leaders of tomorrow. The Drama/Theatre Arts Teacher will be responsible for coordinating school performances arts, related learning expeditions and partnerships with arts organizations.

Roles & Responsibilities

Demonstrate a passion for Drama/Theatre that serves to motivate and encourage students to attain their personal best.
Plan, prepare and deliver instruction that facilitates active learning and provides for appropriate learning experiences for all students.
Design engaging learning and assessment activities that develop deep understanding.
Support students to be confident thinkers in a safe learning environment.
Monitors appropriate use and care of equipment, technology, materials, and facilities.
Monitors the progress of individual students and uses information to adjust teaching strategies accordingly.
Uses relevant technology to support, differentiate and enhance instruction.
Provides appropriate feedback on student progress to students and parents in timely manner.
Act as a Personal Project and Extended Essay supervisor.
Act as a form tutor/mentor to guide and support a small group of students
Contribute to the development of enrichment / co-curricular and experiential activities.
Participate in the residential programme and service-learning experiences for students.

The requirements

The successful candidate should have minimum a Bachelor’s degree and must have an internationally recognized teaching qualification or a B.Ed /Med.
They should have experience teaching MYP and DP Theatre Arts
At least 3 years’ experience in teaching the IB DP and MYP
She/he should demonstrate their experience of directing student productions.
