Vacancy Announcement: Migration and Displacement Programme Assistant, Save the Children International

The Migration and Displacement Programme is one of the thematic pillars within the RPU. The goal of this programme is to ensure that children involved in migration in EHoA and internally displaced persons (IDPs), including those in situations of protracted displacement, are better protected in the areas of origin, transit and destination, as well as during reintegration following voluntary return through provision of child-sensitive durable and sustainable solutions. The purpose of the Programme Assistant position within the M&D Pillar is to support on day to day implementation of programmatic activities under the pillar and DANIDA HUM Project. The position will contribute towards the M&D team’s achievement of its operational objectives and programmatic results.

It is envisioned that through provision of day to day support in the below tasks, this position significantly strengthens the ability of the M&D team to achieve operational and administrative objectives and programmatic results, grow the portfolio and strategically position the M&D programs within the RPU. Under the supervision of the Programme Manager, the Programme Assistant will play a pivotal role in supporting effective program implementation, development and packaging of project reports, learnings, minutes and remote programme delivery i.e. workshops, webinars, and trainings,

In order to be successful, you will bring/have:

Essential/Desired

  • An undergraduate degree in Social Science, Development, Law Social Policy, International Relations or other related fields.
  • At least 1-years’ experience in humanitarian operations, program implementation in a multicultural setting, with NGO experience
  • Proven experience in budget management and logistical planning of events, workshops and conferences
  • Knowledge of regional institutions and governance for instance the AU, EAC, SADC, IGAD, African Development Bank, East African Community, UN Economic Commission for Africa.
  • Experience in supporting project coordination, implementation as well as monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning (MEAL).
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Research and analysis skills.
  • General knowledge on child rights in relation to the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child or the African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child.
  • Commitment to Save the Children values and mission.

Contract duration: 1 year

Location: East and Southern Africa Regional Office – Nairobi

*This role will be under National Contract term*
