Monitoring and Evaluation Internship Opportunities

Center for Public Health and Development (CPHD) is a Nairobi based non-profit organization working to improve health systems through training and other innovations in the East and Southern Africa region.

CPHD combines local capacity with global knowledge to empower public and private health sector workers to improve access to better quality health services for the people they serve. Today, CPHD is leading a number of innovative projects in the region that seek to fast-track attainment of the Sustainable Development Goals to ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages.

CPHD has successfully incubated two social enterprises – HEWA TELE – a medical Oxygen production and distribution company and MediQuip Global – a biomedical equipment maintenance company.

The M&E Intern will support the program performance management frameworks as well as specific program M&E activities to ensure the quality and effectiveness of project implementation. The intern will provide assistance to the project staff in developing results frameworks during implementation including creating M&E processes and tools as well as contributing to measuring, analyzing, and reporting results. The opportunity will help build his or her program performance measurement skills through exposure to a variety of project activities.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist in the development of performance results frameworks, monitoring calendars, and field monitoring plans and quality assurance processes
  • Technical support to design of monitoring and evaluation standards and strategies including development of monitoring tools and standards
  • Ensure that data collection and analysis from field visits are collected and submitted in a timely manner
  • Identify relevant evaluation findings, conclusions and recommendations and input them into program reporting
  • Review study equipment daily and ensure proper assignment of equipment to device
  • Monitor project devices and ensure they are in good working condition with prompt reporting of any faulty equipment
  • Identify and disseminate good practices, lessons and knowledge, as identified through program implementation, monitoring and evaluation activities
  • Contribute to the development of capacity development tools, including training materials and packages
  • Assist in the development of project impact Stories
  • Assist in qualitative interview processes
  • Establish good working relations with facility personnel and represent CPHD in a professional manner while in the field
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned by project staff.

Qualifications

  1. Be a Diploma or Degree holder in any Social Sciences field.
  2. Must be willing to work in Vihiga, Homa Bay and Siaya Counties.
  3. Have work experience of at least 2 years in a Kenyan health facility.
