Job Purpose
The Global Head of Learning & Development will set L&D strategy that is integrated with the organization’s talent management framework. The position will establish minimum standards, develop learning platform and materials, and manage the delivery of training to MFIs and their clients across the network. A key focus is to ensure that MFI leadership and staff are equipped to deliver high quality, client-centric financial services especially as new technology and related processes are implemented. It is also to enable staff to unlock client’s knowledge and skills for business success and well-being.
The Regional Training roles, will have a dotted reporting line reporting into this role. This is a leadership role that is critical to our focus on people at all levels of the organization. The ideal candidate will have a combination of training, consulting, facilitation, supporting and leading change, influencing, and project management skills.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy Development and Execution
- Creates a strategy and plan for learning and development for the network;
- Leads all learning and development activities globally;
- Provides a broad range of learning solutions across different countries and cultures, including digital/e-learning, virtual and instructor-led environments;
- Establishes a partnership with P&C to ensure learning and development activities are integrated with VFI’s talent framework;
- Establishes a VisionFund University platform and creates communication accordingly so employees can find the right content at the right time;
- Responsible for designing, curating leading, and evaluating L&D programmes at all levels;
- Ensures VisionFund and World Vision values and behavioral practices are the foundation of all L&D initiatives;
- Develops and drives relevant metrics that produce useful insights to guide our strategies and measure the business impact of our learning programmes;
- Manages the global L&D budget;
- Serves as liaison or champion between VF GC,, Regional, WVI and MFI L&D communities to establish common platforms, standards, best practices, policies and procedures;
- Develops/implements set of minimum standards (incl. content, annual training plans, delivery, reporting, budget, structure, etc.);
- Selects and manages the Learning Management System (LMS) for the network;
- Embeds L&D at all levels of network to establish a learning culture; and
- Is a voice of Influence on L&D within the microfinance industry.
Technical Capacity Building
- Directs Technical Capacity Building in MFIs, working closely with Regional teams to design and implement;
- Owns and implements the Loan Officer and Branch Manager training programmes – ensuring that these are kept up to date, delivered and followed through, and integrating client education;
- Works within the DOC team to develop new training programmes and refresh existing programmes to support the implementation of new technologies and attendant ways of working;
- Develops or supervises creation of training, development, and assessment tools to be used in MFIs;
- Networks and collaborates with MFI leadership, Regional management and GC technical staff in the development of training to ensure effective operations; and
- Responsible for creating a learning environment within VisionFund MFIs
Client Education
- Identifies client education needs, both technical and other areas such nutrition, health and the ‘biblically empowered world view’ and as appropriate works with MFIs to develop integrated training with WV;
- Manages embedded client education implementation in VisionFund affiliated MFIs, including development, curating and consolidation of front-line training materials, coordination of consultants, budget monitoring, and day to day communications, collaboration and guidance with MFI leadership;
- Develops and executes strategic client education rollout plan, aligned with product development & Operations, that utilizes regional champions for highly efficient implementation to reach large scale impact; and
- Oversees development of educational topics to build a library of appropriate, client-focused modules.
Others
- Represents VFI with technical donors; and
- Carries out additional responsibilities and projects as assigned.
Key Requirements and Qualifications
- Minimum of 10 years learning and development experience;
- Master’s degree in Human Resources, Project Management Professional
- Learning and development, certified professional in training management, learning and performance and similar courses
- Demonstrated ability to teach and train in both formal and informal processes;
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate meetings and to foster employee involvement;
- Demonstrated skill and understanding in cross cultural situations and values diversity;
- Demonstrated ability of exceptional analytical and facilitation skills;
- Demonstrated ability as a team leader and effective team member;
- Proven consultancy skills; and
- Is a systems thinker able to examine various processes and systems for improving organizational effectiveness and then converting this into a scalable training programme.
Travel and Work Arrangement
- Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 25% of the time.
