Vacancy: IT and Data Analyst Assistant

Position Summary

Under the supervision of the MEAL Officer, the IT and Data Analyst Assistant will be responsible for managing the project’s data set, critically analyzing, developing reports and troubleshooting data issues. They will be required to support the adoption and rollout of any new technology required to implement program activities as per the project.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide overall technology support to all the project team members including all virtual meetings, monthly surveys and training that will be conducted throughout the project
  • Managing data, including creation, updates and deletion and supporting initiatives for data integrity and normalization
  • Creating appropriate documentation that allows stakeholders to understand the steps of the data analysis process and duplicate or replicate the analysis if necessary
  • Processing confidential data and information according to guideline, designing and maintaining data systems and databases; including fixing coding errors and other data-related problems
  • Providing technical expertise in data storage structures, data mining and data cleaning, assessing tests, implementing the approved systems and troubleshooting the reporting database environment and reports
  • Support in the curation of an online repository of the handbook in collaboration with consultants and administering assessment games on MIL Handbook
  • Play an active role in the Media Literacy Week to train on the use of the MIL Handbook that will be used virtually
  • Support the Data Analyst in conducting trainings to the staff, researchers and MIL Ambassadors on data guidelines, data ethics, data collection, data storage, management and data protection
  • Maintain and troubleshoot all network and computer related issues, evaluating data needs and security strategies
  • In collaboration with MEAL Officer and other project staff, develop participatory strategies and tools, testing and evaluating MEAL systems e.g. database systems, websites etc
  • Integrate security, physical control solutions for all confidential data and systems
  • Conduct electrical safety checks on computer equipment, troubleshoot and repair of hardware, operating systems and applications
  • Write reports about security requirements, suggest possible changes, participate in end user training sessions and create coaching opportunities for other staff
  • Monitor performance and manage parameters to provide fast responses to front-end users

Required Qualifications

  • At least 2 years expertise in providing information communications technology/ data analytics or visualization in a project or work experience in a related field.
  • Bachelors in information technology/ computer science or a relevant field required
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Be proactive in social media platforms, persistent and detail oriented
  • A great team player; ability to work with the team and relevant stakeholders to assess potential risks
  • Ability to analyze existing tools and databases and provide software solution recommendations
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Excellent report writing skills
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication, interpersonal, cross-cultural and report writing skills required
  • Demonstrated experience in handling large data sets and relational databases
  • Spoken and written proficiency in English and Kiswahili
