Pre-Proposals for 2023 Elephant Conservation and Research- International Elephant Foundation

In 2022 the International Elephant Foundation has divided our Elephant Conservation and Research Funding grant application process into two parts. For applicants to be considered for funding in 2023, we require the submittal of a short preproposal for your project which will be due April 29, 2022. All preproposals that are selected for further consideration will be given an invitation to submit a full proposal by May 27, 2022 with a deadline to submit your full proposal by August 19, 2022. The selection of the final grantees will be in December 2022 for funding in 2023.

Pre-Proposals should specifically target at least one of the following:

  • Be impact and action-oriented not purely data collection or survey.
  • Must include a component that evaluates the success in saving elephants.
  • Projects must begin in the year for the portion of the project which funds are requested, but not before funds are to be awarded.
  • Funds will not be awarded for elements of a project that will have already occurred before awards are made.
  • If the project includes direct contact or capture of animals, it must meet humane standards of care when animals are involved.

The International Elephant Foundation typically awards grants up to $15,000 but larger amounts will be considered for exceptional projects.
