About the Role:
FilmAid Kenya is looking for a Programmes Assistant to work closely with the Content Development Coordinator, M&E Officer, and Listener Group Heads in providing community outreach and program management support for the “SIKIKA” Project supported by DW Akademie. SIKIKA is a revolutionary and interactive radio platform Implemented by FilmAid Kenya and DW Akademie with funding from BMZ. SIKIKA is lauded as a revolutionary communication channel due to its participatory-focused approach. SIKIKA works on the basis of community participation and its distinction from other contemporary radio stations is that its content is produced by the youthful Refugees and Host Community and targets issues of relevance and importance to both the Host and the Refugee communities.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
● Keep up-to-date with DWA ongoing SIKIKA project at field level and work closely with Listener Group Heads to ensure successful implementation of activities.
● Assist where needed in weekly and/or monthly update reports on the DWA project, including feedback reports from the Sikika Project, data analysis, presentation, and submit to Content Development Coordinator and M& E Officer
● Assist the Content Development Coordinator in keeping information management and filing systems for ongoing DWA projects, as required.
● Keep up-to-date with Outreach and SIKIKA weekly/monthly work plans at the field level, and ensure coordination in terms of planning and project delivery.
● Ensure that Listener Group Heads are aware of critical timelines and events, and deliver activities accordingly.
● Work closely with operational staff, including procurement, to ensure all activities have requisite materials and support to deliver projects within strict deadlines.
● Support the Listener Group Heads and FAK M& E officers to identify and address support needs and challenges to project delivery.
● Assist in organizing meetings and training with Listener Group Heads, Groups; Content Generator etc
● Assist in organizing programmatic field visits by donors, partners or FAK’s senior management team
● Assist in liaising between FAK’s community structures and other agencies in the different locations by sharing relevant information from the various community structures with the Programme and Senior Programme Officers.
● Support the Content Development Coordinator in incorporating programmatic learning into activities at the field level to ensure that best practices and challenges are incorporated into continued activities.
● Maintain absolute confidentiality of all information that he/she may have access to in the execution of his/her duties.
● Ensure implementation of FAK’s safeguarding, anti-fraud and community feedback mechanisms at the community structures level
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Degree or Diploma in Community development, social science, communication or relevant discipline
- 2-3 years of working experience in a similar field
- Commitment to humanitarian principles and action
- Good understanding of project management cycles
- Experience working in a field office
- Good understanding of beneficiary community dynamic
- Experience in project planning and execution
- Impartial and embraces religious and cultural diversity
- Ability to work under minimum supervision and with strict timelines
- Willing to travel to hardship areas
- Honest and reliable
- Flexible and reliable
- Fluent English and Kiswahili Languages
