Job Description

Job Overview: The Learning Advisor is part of the Program Quality Support Unit (PQSU). The PQSU is part of a group called Technical Excellence (TE), which also houses 5 sector-specific Technical Units (TUs) advising on our main programming areas (Education, Economic Recovery and Development, Governance, Health, and Violence Prevention and Response), across six different regions of the world, and the Measurement Unit (MU) that plays a crucial role in driving the collection and analysis of programmatic data from our CRRD programs. The Learning Advisor will drive coordinated and improved quality of trainings within Technical Excellence ultimately supporting enhancing programs and projects quality. The Learning Advisor will bring best practice around adult learning to support project leads with training that they conduct. In addition, this position will develop training plans to support the onboarding and professional development of technical staff.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Supports Technical Advisors (TAs) and Specialists (TSs) to improve the quality of content and approach to training. This includes reviewing program quality training plans and presentations trainings and sharing recommendations for improvement; producing guidance, including trainings and templates for trainers to use to improve remote adult learning event facilitation; capturing and disseminating best practices for development and delivery of in person and remote adult training.
  • In collaboration with Technical Excellence leadership and the PQS Officer and training facilitators, build a sustainable approach to technical Advisors learning and training to promote IMPACT standards. That includes building a coordinated and integrated learning and training plan for Technical Excellence on a variety of program quality topics and defining the best approach to sustain knowledge over time across Technical Units with limited resources.
  •  Lead, in collaboration with the Senior Director and the STA Program Quality, the design and delivery of a curriculum on project and program design.
  •  Work with TE leadership to improve Knowledge Management and staff onboarding, building out a standard onboarding approach for Technical Excellence (TE) and Technical Coordinators in country program.
  • Build a catalogue of accessible TE trainings and lead on transferring curriculum to Kaya (technology platform) as appropriate.
  • Advising on models and approaches that can foster peer learning (among TAs but also among regional and country programs staff).
  • Provide surge support to PQSU projects as needed.

Work Experience:

  • 6+ years’ experience working with NGO and/or international organizations within which at least 1 in developing and delivering accessible & engaging face to face and online adults learning activities.
  • Experience in Adult Learning Methodology, Training Management Cycle (training needs analysis, design, delivery, post-training support, evaluation) and training delivery methods.
  • Experience in managing peers to peers learning events including familiarity with the development of communities of practice.

Preferred experience & skills:

  • Ability to work in Spanish, French or Arabic.
  • Understanding of program quality standards and approaches.
  • Ability to travel to IRC country program locations.
  • Familiarity with IRC processes.
  • Mastery of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
