Carolina for Kibera (CFK) is a Non-Governmental Organization that was established in 2001 and operates in Kibera, Nairobi. It runs a number of programs which include operating a fully-fledged medical clinic, a maternity, educational and job training programs, and mentorship and advocacy programs for young girls in the community. In line with its strategic plan, CFK is expanding to seven other counties namely Mombasa, Kilifi, Kiambu, Kajiado, Machakos, Kisumu, Nakuru and other parts of Nairobi.

CATEGORIES OF GOODS AND SERVICES
CFK invites applications from reputable suppliers for prequalification as suppliers and contractors for the period
between 1st January, 2022 to 31st December 2023. We invite suppliers from the eight counties of operation namely,
Mombasa, Kilifi, Kiambu, Kajiado, Machakos, Kisumu, Nakuru and Nairobi. Existing suppliers who wish to be retained MUST re-apply.
Local suppliers residing in the respective counties are encouraged to apply.
The categories of suppliers for goods and services to be pre-qualified are as indicated below: –

CATEGORY C: PROVISION OF MINOR WORKS

• CFK/065/2022-2023 Minor construction works (hand washing blocks, road works), (Registered with National Construction Authority).
• CFK/066/2022-2023 Minor plumbing, drainage and sewerage services.
• CFK/067/2022-2023 All Painting works.

Note
For service provision, each firm must attach evidence of registration with Professional bodies/Authorities
e.g. IATA, Municipal / City Council Certificates of health for food stuffs handling as applicable.

Prequalification Instructions
Introduction
CFK intends to prequalify firms for the supply and delivery of goods and services for the 2-year period – Jan1, 2022 to Dec 31, 2023. Prequalification is open to eligible firms/ Individuals as indicated in the instructions.

Prequalification Objective
The main objective is to qualify firms to supply and deliver assorted items under the relevant
tenders/quotations and proposals as and when required during the stated period.

Language

All information requested for prequalification shall be provided in the English language. Where information is
provided in any other language it shall be accompanied by a translation of its pertinent parts into English language.
The translation will govern and be used for interpreting the information.

Invitation of Prequalification
Firms registered with the registrar of companies under the laws of Kenya with respect to merchandise or services
are invited to submit their tender documents to The Tender Committee, Carolina for Kibera so that they may be
evaluated for prequalification for subsequent submission of tenders/quotations. All mandatory information must
be provided by any eligible and interested firm.

Experience
Prospective firms must have carried out successful supply and delivery of similar goods/services to institutions of
similar size and complexity. Potential firms must demonstrate the willingness and commitment to meet the tender
criteria.

Eligible Firms
CFK employees and their immediate family are not eligible to participate in the prequalification process.

Anti-Terrorism Certification
Eligible and interested firms should certify that they: –
• Have not provided support of any kind in violation of applicable law to a person or entity that the firm knows
or has reason to know advocates terrorism or engages in terrorist activities.
• Will undertake to inform CFK of any individual or organization engaging in such activities, when it receives
new information.

Prequalification Document
Interested and eligible bidders may obtain the tender prequalification document by sending a request
email to tenders@carolinaforkibera.org with the subject line “REQUEST CFK/PQS/2021” OR download
the tender document from www.carolinaforkibera.org/tender. The document includes questionnaire forms PQS1
to 9 and documents required from prospective firms. All eligible and interest firms must provide required
information in the attached questionnaire forms PQS1-9.

Submission and Deadline of Prequalification Documents
Duly completed prequalification documents in sealed envelopes, clearly marked with the Tender number, Item
Reference number and category description, should be deposited in the tender box located at the reception of
