Task Overview

Plan International Kwale program unit wishes to engage the services of a consultancy firm for the purpose of conducting Market Scan for the Coastal Livelihood and Environmental Management Project that is geared towards improving well-being of target communities and households in the coastal Kwale county in Kenya through sustainable management and conservation of natural resources.

Objectives of the market scan

  • A market scan for available markets and value chain additions for Seaweed, solid waste and Mangrove products.
  • Including existing micro-financing options, the target community groups and micro-entrepreneurs can access.
  • A comprehensive review of the legal and policy frameworks relevant to the Blue Economy in Kwale in relation to seaweed, mangrove and management of solid waste resources
  • Identify gaps, weaknesses and opportunities in policies, strategies or laws, together with assessing the output and input markets for seaweed, solid waste and mangrove value chains to produce a feasible market scan matrix for existing value chains for seaweed, mangroves and solid waste.
