Request for Proposal for Selection of a Social Media Engagement Consultant for Maisha Digital

1.0 Background
Rapid and innovative advances in participative internet communication in Kenya due to mobile phones and the internet are increasingly expanding, resulting in growing efforts to incorporate new media channels, digital platforms, and social media in facilitating online discourses in socio-cultural, economic, and political areas. Effective use of digital channels for communicating key HIV and Health messages through relevant content, experience, and dialogue allows individuals to connect directly with other individuals, groups, and organizations. Thus, creating valuable relationships with online and offline users with positive health outcomes in society.

Against this backdrop, the NACC has come up with a dedicated digital platform – MAISHA Digital that will capitalize on multimodal and trans-media approaches to reach and engage young people and the public in various areas to promote behavior change aimed at the attainment of various goals in the HIV response and health.

Maisha Digital will be an online virtual communication resource that will utilize and deploy an array of communication capabilities in various platforms for various audiences based on the communication needs within HIV and Health in Kenya. The current HIV and Health landscape needs innovation and technologies in bringing everyone on board for impactful health outcomes.

2.0 Objective
The Maisha Digital aims to fulfil one of the National AIDS Control Mandates in promoting the leadership in PR and advocacy and mobilizing stakeholders in the country’s HIV response and health. The overall objective of the consultancy is to promote Maisha Digital through the following specific tasks.

3.0 Specific Tasks
With the support of the Communication Division, the qualified consultant will carry out the following roles:

  1. Build up and manage online conversations in social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram and YouTube channel in line with the objectives of Maisha Digital.
  2. Elicit and attract conversations from the audience while informing and creating awareness through creativity and interactive ways.
  3. Creating content that resonates with specified goals of Maisha Digital.
  4. Respond to HIV and AIDS questions raised by their followers on a real-time basis in consultation with NACC officers on specific areas of interest.
  5. Set the agenda for online interactive debates, conversations and discourse on various HIV and health issues
  6. Popularize Maisha Digital through a practical growth strategy.
  7. Monitor, compile and analyze reactions from online conversations and feedback through analytics for the next course of actions.

4.0 Deliverables
Deliverables include:

  1. Online content generation on specified HIV and health issues throughout the specified period (Stories, social media posts, images, infographics, photos posted to digital channels)
  2. A growth strategy on likes/followers of the Maisha Digital.
  3. Timely responses to messages and comments, weekly reports on levels of engagement.
  4. Setting agenda and building narratives as directed on specific HIV and health issues on online conversations daily.
  5. Document various NACC activities and events for the Maisha Digital content.
  6. Social media packs prepared for all key events, dates, launches, etc. and where appropriate

5.0 Requirements/ Qualifications
The qualified persons must be familiar with the mandate and operations of the NACC. In addition, they must have:

  1. A Bachelor’s degree/Diploma in public relations, journalism, brand management, public relations, strategic communications, marketing communications or similar with at least three years experience in social media management for purposeful engagements.
  2. Knowledge of curation and understanding of various HIV and AIDS response in Kenya and the world.
  3. Excellent skills in the generation of content that is unique and attractive on social media platforms
  4. Ability to mobilize social media following through social media campaigns
  5. Proven experience in strategic communication and planning for social media and demonstrated capacity to set media agenda for online conversations
  6. Excellent writing skills and creativity.

6.0 Timelines:
The duration of this campaign is a total of 60 Days.
