Job Vacancy: Associate Director, Grant Analysis and Reporting

Purpose:

The Associate Director, Grant Analysis and Reporting (AD) is responsible for ensuring that timely and accurate financial reporting is submitted to all donors.  S/he works with internal budget holders and Finance Managers to confirm that donor funds have been expended in accordance with requirements and that reporting is timely and accurate.  The AD is the senior member of the Finance team who is primarily responsible for grant financial management and reporting.  The position requires the ability to research donor regulations, coordinate dissemination of external and internal updates, expertise in accounting and budgeting technology, and the ability to review a high volume of transactions in detail.

Engagement:

  • Supervise Officer, Grants Analysis, and Reporting and work closely with internal budget holders and Finance Managers.
  • Focal point of Finance Team, responsible for collecting and disseminating to all team members accurate and current information.

Delivery:

Grant Proposal Budgeting

  • Review proposal budgets to align resources to meet donor and WfWI financial requirements.
  • Align donor budget formats to internal budgets and system capabilities, to automate reporting.

 Financial Reporting & Monitoring

  • Ensure clear, accurate, and timely financial reports are submitted to donors and internal budget holders.
  • Review required financial donor reports/budget amendments and ensure all financial data and cost-share requirements are met, reported accurately, and timely in accordance with donor financial requirements.
  • Ensure timely, accurate Internal reports in donor format are available for country offices and program staff to monitor budget and expenditures.
  • Align accounting, budgeting, and reporting systems to meet the evolving requirements of donors and budget holders.
  • On a monthly basis, as part of the accounting close, analyze assigned grants, contracts, and other agreements, making sure transactions have been recorded correctly and are in line with planned spending.
  • Identify when there is a need for budget re-alignment or other financial risks associated with grants, contracts, and related cost share obligations.
  • Maintain an understanding of donor allowable expenses and confirm all grant expenditures are in accordance with applicable donor regulations such as the USG, United Nations, European Union, UK FCDO, and others.

Sub-grant Management

  • Provide key support to program staff and country office oversight of sub-grants financial management.
  • Identify when there is a need for budget re-alignment or other financial risks associated with grants, contracts, and related cost share obligations.
  • In collaboration with country office finance manager and program officer, monitor partner budgets.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, or related field with at least 9 years of relevant experience required.
  • Expertise with Sage Intaact and Workday Adaptive Planning preferred.
  • Strong experience with government funding (US, UK, and DE) and compliance.
  • Excellent computer skills, including advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with finance and non-finance program staff.
  • Ability to handle competing priorities while working independently as well as part of a team.
  • Ability to travel to country offices as necessary including DRC, Nigeria, South Sudan, and others security permitting.
  • Ability to have flexible work schedule which may include early mornings, evenings and weekends. May be required to occasionally work beyond normally scheduled hours.
