World Youth Skills Day

There is increasing unemployment among youth around the globe. These alarming rates of unemployed youth is causing problems to countries’ economies and the society as a whole. The effects of diminishing economies is experienced by both the developed and developing countries alike. The latest Global Employment Trends for Youth 2020: Technology and the future of jobs shows an escalating tendency of unemployment among the youth and also a decline in youths education and training.

With these surging numbers of unemployed youth, realizing the international target to lessen the youth not in employment, education or training will be difficult to restraint as was previously projected.

Therefore, the World Youth Skills Day is an opportunity for young people, technical and vocational education and training (TVET) institutions, and public and private sector stakeholders to acknowledge and celebrate the importance of equipping young people with skills for employment, decent work and entrepreneurship.
