THE ROLE
The purpose of this role is to support corporate communication strategies that increase CABI Africa’s visibility to diverse audiences, expanding digital information-sharing capacity, building a strong brand and strengthening internal communication systems. The job holder will work closely with the wider communication team in the execution of internal and external communications strategies for the Centre.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Engage and inform CABI Africa staff through high impact communications delivered through multiple channels (videos, fact sheets, newsletters etc.)
- Liaise with Development Communications teams and partners in effective media reporting and coverage.
- Support development of communication materials such as web stories, press releases, fact sheets, talking points, and event briefings as needed, working closely with the Communications team as appropriate.
- Prepare and maintain stakeholder contact lists and communications databases.
- Support development of media relations to amplify CABI’s outreach and communication activities
- Keep track of media exposure of CABI and its partners on related topics and provide reports and insights on the same
- Ensure timely tracking and reporting of key corporate and project events
- Manage the CABI Africa ‘internal social media platform page and ensure posting of announcements and events
- Support sourcing of communication products and services ensuring brand consistency is maintained
- Keep up to date with industry practice
ABOUT YOU:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing public relations, or a related field from a recognized University
- Working knowledge of design software/Adobe Suite (e.g., Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator)
- At least 3 years’ experience in a similar role
- Proven skills in marketing communications, web content management, social media marketing or digital marketing is a plus
- Outstanding communication (oral and written) skills
- Proven proficiency in using various social media platforms or a strong desire to learn
- Knowledge of media relations and digital media strategies
- Computer proficiency including adaptability to most MS Office software.
- Strong editing and researching skills.
- Strong attention to detail
- A team player with good interpersonal and communication skills
- Self-motivated
- Good organizational skills
