Tender for Self Help Africa Brand Refresh

A brand designer is being sought to support the creation of a refreshed visual identity for our organization following the merger of Self Help Africa and United Purpose.

We are seeking to update our identity as Self Help Africa following this merger, and create two new sub-brands for programmes that the merged organization will implement outside the African continent – in Bangladesh and Brazil. Self Help Africa will be the primary brand – across 15 programme countries in Africa, and in our main markets in the West – Ireland, the UK and USA, where we have fundraising activities. Self Help Bangladesh and Self Help Brazil will be secondary brands.

This work is being commissioned 15 years after the creation of Self Help Africa from the merger of Irish NGO Self Help Development International and UK-based Harvest Help, in 2008. In 2014, Self Help Africa merged with Gorta.

The refresh should seek to reinvigorate the brand following a merger that has doubled our size, and doubled the reach and scale of our programme activity.

It should review existing logo artwork and other brand elements including colors, font usage and application, and work with the organization’s communications team to develop and adapt where appropriate.

The chosen agency/designer will be tasked with refreshing existing brand assets. We are not looking for a complete rebrand as we would like to retain some characteristics of our current brand. However we are open to creative proposals and suggestions.

The brand refresh should seek to incorporate the United Purpose tagline ‘Beyond Aid,’ but in a manner that will allow flexibility in the application of this tagline.

The ‘refresh’ is being undertaken at a time of change for the organization, which has just launched a new five-year organizational strategy.
