The Role: Human Resources Intern

Fixed-term internship agreement for 11 months/Full-Time or Part-Time (minimum 20 hours per week)

Reports to: The Human Resources Intern will report to the Global Head of Human Resources.

Job Overview

This is a fantastic opportunity for a HR Student or someone that wants to acquire HR experience.

The role will provide administrative support and assistance to the HR (Human Resources) Team for the development and management of HR functions such as recruitment, training, on-boarding, and filing for compliance

Based: ​Local contract can be offered to those having the right to work and residency in the following countries: UK, Ireland, Germany, Kenya, Zimbabwe, Nigeria, Burkina Faso, Madagascar, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bolivia, Philippines, and Lao PDR.

Hours: Full-time or Part-time (minimum 20 hours a week) – 11 months duration

Salary range: The internship will be remunerated as per local country practice in the NGO Sector

Responsibilities and Duties

HR Administration:

  • Perform routine HR administration duties including maintaining up to date employee records
  • HR Metrics and Reporting
  • Administration of the Travel Insurance policy
  • Absence reporting and follow-up activities
  • Administrative support to the HR Team

Recruitment

  • Organize Interviews
  • Check References
  • Respond to feedback requests from candidates
  • Ensure timely and proper administration of the Recruitment
  • Organize On-Boarding Sessions

Training and development

  • Maintain staff training records
  • Support the organization of staff training sessions

Safeguarding Responsibilities and Duties

Focuses on self-awareness and behaviour regulation, observing and reporting others’ behaviour, training. Gain an in depth understanding of CBMG’s Safeguarding policy and the Code of Conduct, and how these are relevant to their work. 

Knows and considers the power people think they hold because of their position at CBMG and takes care not to abuse it by treating everyone with respect. 

Considers their personal values and biases, taking care these do not negatively impact on how they interact with and treat the different individuals they will come across during their work at CBMG. 

Able to report and escalate safeguarding concerns appropriately. Challenges inappropriate behaviours of peers. Able to implement safeguarding requirements in their area of responsibility. 

Acts as a role model for CBMG’s commitment to zero-tolerance for abuse, do no harm and safeguarding standards. 

Key outcomes expected from this role

  1. Employees files are up to date and information is auditable.
  2. Recruitment processes are auditable and timely managed.
  3. Training sessions are organized, and attendance records are tracked.
  4. Intranet is up to date
  5. Travel insurance records are up to date.

Person Specification

All of the following requirements are essential, unless marked with a when they are desirable.

Experience and knowledge

  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office tools (World, Excel, and Power Point)
  • Persons with Disabilities are encouraged to apply
  • Experience working in a developing country and/or development sector (desirable)*

Qualifications

  • CIPD (Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development) level 3 in HR or similar HR qualification and/or prior experience in Human Resources (desirable)*
