Global Investigative Journalism Conference – 2023
Applications are now open for the 2023 Global Investigative Journalism Conference (GIJC23) Fellowship program.
With the support of their sponsors and partners, the 2023 Global Investigative Journalism Conference is offering more than 150 fellowships to both established and promising journalists in developing and transitioning countries, and for journalists from disenfranchised communities, to participate in this prestigious event.
Competition is keen, so you need to convince them that you will make great use of the training that GIJC23 offers.
Eligibility Criteria
- Open to full-time print, online, television, video, radio, documentary, and multimedia journalists in developing or transitioning countries;
- Experience in investigative or data journalism a plus;
Fellowship Requirement
Option 1
- Write or produce a story about the conference or what you learned there, to be published in your media organization’s newspaper/website/video platform or any print, broadcast, or online media outlet. Stories could be blog posts, how-to tip sheets, or any item about what you learned.
- Articles/videos/podcasts should mention the Global Investigative Journalism Conference.
- Articles/videos/podcasts can feature content from conference sessions or interviews with conference speakers/participants.
Option 2
- Conduct a talk/presentation, networking session, or workshop on skills you learned at the conference for your media colleagues, journalism community, or journalism students in your home country.
- Provide photos of you presenting to your audience
- Provide an invitation to your talk/workshop (if applicable)
- Provide presentation slides/content of your presentation
GIJC23 Fellowship Includes:
- Round-trip airfare to Gothenburg, Sweden
- Hotel room for four nights
- Transport between Gothenburg-Landvetter Airport and the conference hotel
- Reception dinner
- Breakfast and lunch on conference days
- Award ceremony dinner
- Conference registration fee
NOTE: The fellowship does not include a per diem, visa fees, or transport to and from your home country airport. This is a training conference, and fellows are expected to pay for these costs.
